Cambodia Casinos
There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are apparently required to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of most borders.
The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga casino is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel building that features numerous comforts in addition to the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 table games.
