Cambodia Casinos
There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is banned. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel building that contains numerous amenities aside from the casino, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and 88 tables.
