Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are situated in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that highlights many comforts in addition to the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
